JACK LEWIS

ST CLAIR

Jack Lewis was always the type of student who excelled in the classroom but never felt entirely fulfilled. Straight A’s in school came easily to him, but it never seemed to fill the void he had inside. He was always told he was a "natural" at sports, with a particularly strong leg and an accurate eye. Soccer and rugby were his sports of choice. He wasn't the fastest or the most agile on the field, but Jack was reliable. He could kick the ball further than most, and his precision made him a useful player. Still, he was never the star of the team, never the one to steal the spotlight. He was good, but never great, and deep down, he always knew he wanted more. Jack wanted to prove that he was worth something more than being just another player or a student stuck behind a desk. But no matter how hard he tried, he couldn’t shake the feeling that his life was always going to be defined by the ordinary.

However, there was one constant in Jack’s life that offered him some comfort: his love for the NFL, particularly the Los Angeles Rams. Watching them on TV became his escape. The idea of playing on a stage like that — under those bright lights, in front of thousands — was a fantasy Jack would entertain for hours. He could picture it vividly in his mind. But even in his daydreams, he knew it wasn’t realistic. His life was too grounded in the mundane to ever make it onto a professional stage like that.

Jack had always enjoyed kicking a ball. Whether it was soccer or rugby, he could hit it hard, but that was all. He lacked the finesse and control needed to excel, but his strength and ability to make a ball travel a great distance always caught the attention of coaches. He was drawn to darts, too — the precision, the accuracy. Kicking, in a way, was just like throwing darts, except with a lot more power and force behind it. His natural ability to hit things hard was something he had always relied on, but what if he could control it? What if that raw talent could be sharpened?

One day, after years of wondering if he could ever escape the ordinary, Jack made a bold decision. He took a risk. He signed up for a kicking camp, four hours away in Newcastle. He wasn’t sure what to expect, but he had a feeling that this could be the opportunity he’d been waiting for. It was there that he met Coach Brad, a man who would change Jack's life forever.

Coach Brad saw something in Jack that no one had ever truly recognized before. He didn’t just see a kid who could kick hard; he saw potential. Over the next year, Jack's life would be transformed. Coach Aaron Bowcott would help in weekly training with Jack, helping him to realise his ability and progress extremely quickly. With Coach Brad's guidance, Jack honed his skills, learning to control the raw power he'd always had. It wasn’t long before he was not just good, but exceptional. In a short time, Jack went from being a kid with a decent leg and a dream to becoming the all-time scoring leader in the Canadian Junior Football League (CJFL). A year after his first camp, Jack was a 4.5-star kicker, ranking among the best in the entire United States.

The dream he had once thought impossible — playing on a stage like the NFL — was starting to feel within reach. And as Jack looked back on how far he'd come, he couldn’t help but feel a sense of pride. His mother had always believed in him, and now, despite everything he had been through, he was proving to himself that he was worth something. He wasn’t just a student or a guy who kicked a ball hard for fun; he was becoming a force to be reckoned with in the world of football.

Jack Lewis had finally found his stage .
